Nepal Introduces Digital National ID to Modernize Services

Nepal has officially launched a digital National ID card, a major step toward digital governance and modernization. The new ID, embedded with biometric data and digital features, will be used for a range of services including banking, voting, and healthcare.

The government aims to provide the cards to all citizens within the next two years. The initiative is expected to enhance transparency, reduce fraud, and improve service delivery across both public and private sectors.

Citizens welcomed the move, seeing it as a sign of Nepal embracing digital transformation. The government is also working to ensure that even remote communities have access to this technology.
