Kathmandu Hosts Himalayan Climate Charter Summit

Leaders from across Asia gathered in Kathmandu for the Himalayan Climate Charter Summit, a high-profile event focusing on the urgent need to combat climate change in the fragile Himalayan region. Scientists presented alarming data showing the rapid melting of glaciers, which are critical water sources for millions living downstream.

The summit concluded with the signing of the Himalayan Climate Charter, a joint pledge to reduce carbon emissions, enhance glacier research, and support communities vulnerable to climate-related disasters. Nepal’s Prime Minister emphasized the importance of international cooperation, as climate change knows no borders.

The charter also calls for increased investment in renewable energy and reforestation projects, both vital for protecting Nepal’s environment and economy.
