In a bid to protect its pristine natural beauty and rich biodiversity, Nepal has introduced new eco-tourism guidelines aimed at promoting responsible travel. The Ministry of Tourism has collaborated with conservation groups to implement policies that minimize waste, preserve fragile ecosystems, and engage local communities.
Tour operators are being encouraged to adopt sustainable practices such as limiting plastic use, controlling tourist numbers in sensitive areas, and providing eco-friendly accommodations. Nepal, home to eight of the world’s highest peaks including Mount Everest, has seen increasing pressure from tourism, which contributes significantly to the economy but also strains the environment.
The new measures seek to balance economic development with environmental protection, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the country’s breathtaking landscapes.
